I bought this nice little package. UV LEDs are said to last longer than expensive incandescent bulbs. If you want it to kill small fruit flies, don't buy it. The distance between the power cables is too far, the flies will go through it and just dance around the LED lighting. This will kill the larger flying bugs but I had to keep the fruit flies away and it wouldn't kill them.

Very disappointing. We replaced our Aspectek bug trap with this one after it died at the age of 7. Liked the idea of using LED bulbs instead of the slightly expensive Aspectek replacement bulbs. The block is just dead. However - it eliminated ZERO bugs in a week of use. I replaced it with a Liba zapper (basically the same as our old Aspectek) and it had half a dozen dead gnats and gnats on its tray after the first 24 hours.

Used as a replacement for Stinger's fluorescent spark gap. This attracts insects even more. Internal spark gaps operate at reduced voltage, so burning parts of bug carcasses will not burn down the house. Unfortunately, this means bugs often don't die. I solved this problem by leaving the bottom tray out of the hoont, it's hanging from the ceiling with a bucket of water just below.
