Horse Riding Helmet - Troxel Dakota Model Review

I bought this for my daughter, she loved the color and style. Absolutely beautiful helmet. I had to give it only 4 stars because I ordered a Large for a 14year old girl. I got the large but they are sized small. when in doubt go bigger. Now I get to do the refund reorder and hope it gets here in time dance.

I love this helmet, very light, has many air vents and looks great on. I recently had an accident with my horse slipping in the mud and she fell with me on her, falling on my leg and then I slammed my face to the ground breaking 4 bones in my face, I didn't have a helmet on at the time but the Dr said the way I fell the helmet wouldn't have helped but if I had fallen a different way it could have been fatal without a helmet. Accidents happen so fast and I have learned my lesson to wear a helmet

Let me start out by saying I love this helmet, it is very comfortable. The first time I wore it, two of the three pins that hold the visor to the helmet popped out and I lost one of the pins. I contacted Troxel customer service and they told me they don't have replacements for the visor clips(pins). Troxel offered me a replacement under their warranty program.

This helmet met the expectations as they were promised in the product description. Thanks for attention. That's all I ever ask.

My granddaughter uses this helmet on her weekly horse riding lessons. It is a very attractive helmet, liner comes out so you can wash it and it adjusts for a perfect fit.

Haven't ridden with it yet, but it fits perfect and is very comfortable. Feels lightweight but has lots of padding inside. The design is stylish without going too overboard. I'm normally not a helmet wearer but this helmet seems like it will be a good transition.

A comfortable, good looking helmet. I am a man and it seems a lot of equestrian helmets look feminine, this one doesn’t look feminine at all. I only wish it had the dial adjustment in the back.

I love this helmet! I wanted a classic look that would match my brown boots and half chaps. This was perfect. The larger brim was a bonus; the fact that is was called Grizzly Brown (my family jokingly calls me a bear) was the cherry on top. My head measures 22" which works out to a 7. I ordered the M and it fits perfectly. The Surefit was great and I didn't need any adjustments to the padding. I can wear comfortably for hours with no issues. I needed a riding helmet to ride at the Therapeion riding center. It is so light weight and so comfortable. Troxel helmets are very durable. I am so happy with this helmet.

I bought this for my daughter. I would say sizing is correct don't buy a size up. Adjustable straps, this model did not have the adjustable dial in the back. It was elastic straps that can be pulled shorter or longer as needed. It does have a removable padding on the inside that can be washed. I wish the vent holes were larger. Looks well made.

I am not typically a helmet wearer, so after an accident that could have been very tragic, I decided my family would benefit my presence a little longer so I bought one. You can find cheaper helmets, but I like that this one doesn't look like a schooling helmet. It is very comfortable in cool weather. I don't know how it will be wearing it in the deep south humid hot summer yet. I also wish that there was a helmet with this construction, but without the design. This helmet was the most tasteful

Attractive, seems well made. Larger visor makes it look more balanced. Fits a little bigger than my other Troxel it seems. Comfortable.

The helmet was not the color shown on the website. When I opened the box it was the ugliest brown I had ever seen. When I tried the helmet on it had 2 snaps on the inside that pierced the side of my head no matter how big I tried to make the size adjustments. I own serval Troxel helmets the same size and none of them have every fit like that. This one needs to go back to the design team and for goodness sakes make the color a beautiful brown, not a baby poop brown.

Selected this helmet because of the larger brim - and it does the job. Like that it doesn't look like a schooling helmet and has a baseball cap type brim. It's comfortable - wondering how it will do when summer heat turns up in central FL.

I love this helmet.The color and band with conchos are very nice western style. I only wish it was a dial fit. That's my feedback.

I received the helmet very quickly. It's very comfortable. Anyone with an old helmet, think about purchasing this one.

I ride several times a week both arena and trails. This helmet is comfortable, stays in place , and doesn’t demand attention once I put it on. I love the baseball type visor. That extra shading should be on all helmets.

I purchased this helmet July 2018. It is worn 2x / week, if that. Overall, the fit is decent. Not the best, but comfortable on long rides. However, last week I opened my trailer door and the exterior of the helmet was on the ground. The helmet had completely fallen apart. While I realize this isn't the most expensive helmet around, i would've expected longer life out of Troxel. I'm so disappointed.

I broke my nose in a fall from hiking. Now I use this helmet, which is great for my confidence, and protection. The visor is great for shade, and is substantial, too.
