Works exactly the way you think it should. I had a little trouble getting mine to click and hold (my monitor is S2318HN). But after you pushed the release button with a screwdriver, the adapter finally slid in properly. If you are installing the monitor on a moveable stand, I would recommend only aligning the monitor on the adapter itself. Due to the gap between the monitor and the adapter, moving the monitor on the side feels very fragile as the adapter can break if you push too hard.

Dell's ultra-thin monitors have a soft plastic backing that is highly flexing. This mount attaches securely to the monitor, but any adjustment on the monitor feels very loose as the mount is pressed into this soft plastic and makes an annoying creaking noise when you move it. I feel like it could have been designed better to better distribute the weight to avoid this issue.

I purchased a HumanCentric VESA mounting bracket compatible with the Dell Ultrathin S2719DM. The Dell stand has been removed. In the middle of the first photo you can see two screws that attach the HumanCentric mount to the monitor. (the gray part where the stand was attached) Once attached, the desktop monitor mounting plate was easy to attach to the HumanCentric mount that was attached to the Dell monitor. I bought this adapter for my Dell S2319NX monitor and it fits perfectly. So far it seems pretty stable, which is all I can ask for. Unfortunately, the kit does not include a stabilizer bar, although the box states that it is included and includes instructions on how to install the stabilizer bar. Most of this review is based on Dell's design choice. This mount doesn't help. The bracket does not support the monitor well. This mount is designed to be universal so you won't get what you want. This mount is short and doesn't fit my 27" monitor, so the mount is 1.5" shorter, making the 1.5" monitor too tall. My monitors do not fit in the VESA mount.
