I bought these in 2015 and have used them on several trips. My experience is that they are not 100% tight. Ultimately, it's the liquid that matters, regardless of viscosity. Nothing leaked the first time it was used (after pouring the liquid into 3 bottles). But when I used the one that had vegetable oil in it, it leaked after first opening. I thought this would be a great hand sanitizer and there are a few good and bad points. First the problem: They have some kind of non-return valve in the spout that prevents leakage. That's great, but the check valve doesn't work until you apply a certain amount of pressure. With liquids you either get nothing or a lot with little pressure. Bought a year ago and have traveled with them a lot. They have survived all kilometers very well. Easy to fill, easy to use and durable. They worked so well my husband wanted one for himself on a long hike. The soft silicone body makes it easy to squeeze out the product, even with arthritic hands.
