I ordered 10 for my 9 year old who wears 8/10 because other reviews say they run small. Not true. I also read in the reviews that they are adjustable. Not true. You're too big for him, so I have to go back. Also in the photo the green looks like light green/mint. We got a very very light green color (even lighter than in my photo) which came as a shock. My son was a bit disappointed but still loved them when they fit.

Love these board shorts. My son wears a size 8-10 so I got a MEDIUM size 10 which is actually the 25 on the tag (this wasn't listed online). One review said they had an adjustable waist. They don't. It fell so I ordered the next size smaller than an 8. The size 8 I received was very short. I have the Quiksliver and Billabong shorts in size 8 which are much longer. I don't understand why the length was so short. So I had to send both back, which is a shame.
