🚚 Husky 39585 Sway Control Ball Mount Adapter: Hassle-Free Towing Solution Review

This is a good adapter to add a tumble control ball (separate) to an existing ball mount. works for left or right side. easy to attach and is a strong connection. I towed my 3300 lb RV with the stabilizer bar attached, no problem.

I bought this plate to add to my hitch which I already had to eliminate the rocking of my fold out motorhome when towing. I also bought an anti sway ball and attached it to this plate and then attached both to my hitch. Combined with the stabilizer bar, this eliminated the RV roll and made towing the RV much safer.

Good build quality. It's securely fastened. I'd say you'll probably want to be pretty handy if you're going to install this yourself. We have a retractable trailer that we use it with that weighs about 3600 pounds. We use it in conjunction with the anti-sway device we purchased from Harbor Freight. So far this is working fine. I think I would recommend that.

I needed to add a stabilizer bar to my small trailer and rather than buying a whole new system I bought this to replace the fun that I already have to increase. Since it is bolted to the coupling you may need a new main ball as the thread length may not be long enough to eliminate the extra thickness. My only complaint is that it should have had smaller ballrooms on either side instead of just one. You also need to buy a smaller ball to complete the installation.

Received and fitted to the drop as instructed. On the first drive I stopped my little camper to get some ice cream at a gas station and walked around the back of my truck to make sure everything was secure with the hitch and noticed the sway control mounting plate was bent was so that my pendulum control lever was pressed firmly against the mounting plate bracket of my gas cylinder. It's a hook of sorts as it doesn't dangle in any way like the hitch itself. It's a sort of U-shaped bracket designed to prevent the extension from swinging from side to side so it rests on top of or goes around your hitch from underneath, and underneath the extension they both clamp like a sandwich and hold the hitch them on the trailer hitch. my big problem I have a small diameter/width hitch and had to glue a 1/2" aluminum block to get it tight to the base of the hitch. I attached it to my Camco Sway Control and when I first used it the adapter was bent as shown in the attached photo. I drove standard, no sharp corners except for stops and turns at traffic lights.
