Hutzler 359RD Onion Saver Red Review

I ordered 2 of these, both lids are so tight it's almost impossible to use. I've tried releasing the lids with rubber grips, silicone grips, etc., but since the connection between the two halves isn't a spiral twist, it's a groove and lock, the tabs on the lid fit into the slot on the underside, and are machined so that they are so tight that once fitted, it takes more force than is reasonable to open them. I love these vegetable savers! My vegetable drawer can get a little disorganized and already cut veggies get lost among other veggies and hard to find. You end up using fresh peppers and forgetting that you already had half the used peppers. This is no longer a problem. It is easy to find already partially used red peppers in it. Love it! I bought the Onion Saver (in red) about 2 years ago and it works great (I still use it)! It's just a small plastic container with a lid that screws onto the bottom. It has a raised part in the middle of the bottom for the onion to rest on to protect it from the moisture created by storing the onion there (onions are pretty wet veggies or roots or whatever). This is my favorite Hutzler and I have 5 different models. If you cook a lot with onions, one or the other will make your life a lot easier. I've found in other reviews that these foods aren't "magic" and while they don't defy the laws of physics, they do help preserve food. a little fresher and they make life easier for the amateur cook.
