Haven't used it yet but I replaced the cheap plastic lid handle.

I love the look of this teapot. I just hated the cheap plastic bead caps. Luckily, when you unscrew it you'll find a tiny threaded mount with a standard Philips head driven into a brass insert. I just took it off and screwed it into a charred piece of driftwood after drilling the right size hole. Now I have the perfect stainless steel kettle. (If the manufacturer correctly claims tannins). I have a loose leaf oolong tea that I will brew in the morning after making the teapot according to your…

Health and safety concerns

I have stopped using it due to health reasons. waste of money. I bought this along with a heating pad, over $60 total, wasted. I use this kettle several times a day and almost every day. After use, some water is usually left on the bottom. And at the end of the day I emptied and cleaned it, the tea that comes out is a black gray color! And I drink 90% oolong tea. It scares. This only happens if I leave the water in the pot for about an hour. The kettle pollutes the water. And last week when I…

Hack the handle + NO dishwasher!

I love this kettle, but I'm no expert on what makes a 'proper' Japanese teapot. This one is made in China, looks attractive, appears to be made of good materials, and has structural integrity. On a side note, my version weighs 27 ounces and has a plastic or resin grip on the lid, presumably to keep it from getting too hot. (Iron conducts heat!) The stitching on the handle is visible if you look closely, but I wouldn't say it's easily visible. And no, no coating is visible on the inside. More on
