If your a carpenter and use linoleum knives for shaving sheetrock rips, this is what you want. The wooden handled knives don't have the correct angle to shave the rock easily. This has a sharper angle and is worlds easier to shave sheetrock than other knives. It works so well I let my partner borrow it when he was cutting for me and I never got it back.

Pros
  • Got this puppy to shred cardboard boxes for recycle. I love it.
Cons
  • The Hyde Tools Black And Silver 2-1/2-Inch Flooring And Roofing Knife is significantly heavier than other similar knives, making it more difficult to use for extended periods of time

Instantly slices carpet, easy to hold

It's SHARP so be careful. It made cutting the old carpet out a breeze, and saved me from a bunch of hand cramping. Highly recommend it, for a few bucks you will save a ton of hassle and mess.

Pros
  • Power & Hand Tools
Cons
  • The blade is quite thick, which makes it difficult to make precise cuts, especially when working with delicate or intricate materials

The best hooknife I could find

I use hooknifes to tuck and pull staples mostly. I also scrape, pry, and hook into carpet to lift it during demo.I grew up with a different model with a rubbery sleeve. It's blade was also thicker and a bit sturdier. This is a bit lower quality, but compared to a lot of the other models on the market, this is the best.Bought 2 and blunted them down. Might buy 1 more

Pros
  • This helped when ripping up my old carpet. thx
Cons
  • Safety it’s important. The knife doesn’t bring a cover. It broke the plastic.

stupid sharp for my opinion

i read a lot of the reviews for the tool and laughed my self silly. the tool works great is easy to hold and comes stupid sharp to a point that i warned the guy it was given to not to cut himself. i have been installing flooring for over 20 years and any REAL installer knows these tools are not for ACTUALLY cutting flooring. if that is the understanding you have then you need to step away from what ever you are trying to install. this is a quality tool. the only minor complaint i have is its a…

Cons
  • Despite the claim of "enhanced performance," many users have reported that the blade dulls quickly and requires frequent sharpening

Easy to use best in my review

I bought this to cut up a piece of carpet I had. Never used it for that, but have used it to cut up boxes and other heaver stuff. I like them.

Cons
  • The knife's handle is made of metal, which can become uncomfortably hot or cold depending on the temperature of the environment
