Lifespan 4 months on the timer

Bought this lamp in April 2020 and it went out today 24th August 2020. Day. Great bright light, my succulents bloomed but all my other plant bulbs I bought in 2019 are still working. So I'm not impressed with the lifespan of this bulb compared to my other bulbs, but it worked fine.

Pros
  • Elegant design
Cons
  • There are defects

Very poor quality for bulbs

Made a mistake when buying new. when the 1st dropped out after just a week. The replacement came with a "screw on the end". falls down. Returned for the third. Number three. It was cool. for a month. then guess what. Not worth the money. I can't rely on the quality. or anything else for that matter. When you need a grow light you can count on. THAT'S NOT THAT. Spend your money elsewhere. Of course nothing worse happens. It didn't happen, Vault Revane. they were new. Oh God.

works great - CFLs

I live in an attic and have tiny windows. I also have some very old bonsai that I have been tending for years. I got this bulb for a light fixture, for a variegated umbrella tree that is about 9 years old and a 5 year old variegated jade tree. I put the light on a timer to complement the poor winter lighting. This lightbulb is awesome. No problems at all and no big bills on my electricity bill. I have used many different types of light fixtures and lamps in the past but this one is a keeper.

Expensive but high quality

The thing is good for plants. It definitely has a blue tint to it and I'd say that's enough to make it less than ideal for normal everyday use. I would only recommend this for dedicated plant lighting. Note that the light can hurt your eyes when open, so make sure you have a screen or at least some sort of shade around the lamp. Even if you don't look directly into the bulb, if the bulb isn't shielded it will irritate your eyes pretty quickly because it's very bright. Any conventional 5000K LED

burns out in two days or less

Ordering this as I have used other grow lights from this manufacturer and have been very happy with their results and longevity. My first lightbulb burned out within two days. I have contacted Revain that I need a replacement. Since this bulb costs $15, I expect it to last more than a few days. The replacement came in a flash (thanks Revain) but this one blew through just as quickly. I think it was just a bad production run. I didn't do anything to make the light burn out quickly, just pluggedโ€ฆ

Great light for tomatoes!

March 2019: I purchased this in October 2013 to use during a cold to cloudy North Texas spring and was eventually able to use it consistently for tomato and pepper seedlings. It seems to work great and feels pretty cool. Tomato leaves turn towards the light, so I turn them every day. I am very happy to see flowers sprout on tomato plants. If I hadn't used this light, the plants would have withered by now. Listen folks, this is an honest review of a purchase I made based on reviews at Revainโ€ฆ

Really good lighting for growing tropical dwarf fruit trees indoors

I bought other headlight bulbs - can't remember the brand - and they seemed too hot for my Bloomsz dwarf orange, so I asked the grow bulb manager at Chalet Nursery what to do. He suggested this lightbulb. I bought a few and bought more at Revain. (I have a little garden in my closet.) Beautiful light! They have a pure white light, not the orange light of some LED grow lights or incandescent bulbs. They don't feel hot. The plants have been bouncing and bouncing since I first got them about aโ€ฆ

Indoor Gardenia: Compact Fluorescent Lamps

Every autumn I bring plants from outside, such as potted orchids, kalanchoe, Christmas cacti and foliage plants. Window lights and conventional incandescent or compact fluorescent lamps worked fine. This year, in October, when the first frosts were predicted, I brought in a 4 foot tall potted gardenia that I had bought in the summer, counting on seasonal use only. It started shedding leaves fairly soon after being indoors. I ordered 2 of these 32 watt compact fluorescent lamps as a test. Theโ€ฆ
