🔌 iBOLT AMPS Plate Adapter Review

Combined with the Vanmass cordless phone holder, the Proclip mount and some washers this is the perfect phone holder for my car. The metal is strong and very durable.

I ordered this to mount on the ProClip center mount for my Garmin Drive 61 GPS. It attaches with glue and screws, holds the GPS securely and you can't beat the price. I did not rate the suction power because it is not suitable.

If you live with an 18 wheel you need this. First I bought the plastic plate and it broke after a month, then I bought this aluminum plate and it holds up. Just make sure you have a sturdy phone holder.

I really wanted this because my previous two connectors had failed due to impact and I wanted to use metal. Not only did it attach well to the metal arm I had with a little drilling, but it's shorter and actually vibrates less. Can't wait to ride some trails and fully test it.

This review is for the aluminum ball version. Pros: The quality seems good. It comes with everything you need to install it and the installation was easy. Cons: Although the ball has a few grooves, the surface is still quite slippery. Even if I rotate the clamp ring on the phone stand/charger (iOttie One Touch), the stand still moves fairly easily. I can use a file or something to roughen up the surface, or maybe plastididip the ball to give it some texture that the cradle can take.

The iBOLT AMPS adapter plate is a simple device, but due to a design flaw it can only be used as a short-term solution. I have a Garmin GPS and I'm finally tired of the suction cup that keeps breaking and taking the cable with it. I made my own sheet metal mount that mounts under the ceiling on the rear sight bolt assembly. and a secondary contact point on the windshield with a 3m double-sided adhesive layer for added stability.
