Not working in my optiplex

My optiplex uses two standard 5.25 drives so this should work but doesn't work. It's about 1/8 inch too tall. I would blame Dell but they didn't make standard sized DVD drives that fit perfectly in the bays and this one was made to have the same space as two standard 5.25 drives but this didn't.

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • Some issues

The smart solution for a disk enclosure without disk sleds/carts

This enclosure is suitable for testing drives, but the conclusion is: SAS IS is supported, but not Dual Channel (electrical, single channel SAS/SATA). Works great with any type of HDD (3.5"). .Works with typical SAS HBAs (RAID too, but may complain about the lack of another channel depending on the firmware). I am using this case for reformatting/testing/ Adjusting the disk block size SAS, works without problems.

Pros
  • All right!
Cons
  • There is a negative result

Doesn't seem to support SATA 3 speeds

Machine works quite well, hard drives are inserted without problems. My biggest complaint is the lack of SATA 3 support, my other case is a 5-bay Kingwin model that supports SATA 3. The other complaint I have is that the drives are not secured once inserted. I can see them decoupling from the vibration on the discs. , the time will show. The drive speed limited by SATA 2 doesn't seem to affect the performance of the NAS much, it's just annoying that 5 drives are on SATA 3 and the other 3 are on

Pros
  • Free for educational purposes
Cons
  • Slightly torn

Cheap - You get what you pay for

This case is an improvement over the Startech unit I've had for years. My main concerns are that the inserted discs are loose and unreliable. I don't know why you design an enclosure for spinning disks and don't have the means to PROTECT the disks while they are running. You just put them in and pray. Also, as one gentleman remarked, the fan is for beauty only. Pretty misleading marketing. There aren't enough openings in the back panel to move air. Spend the extra money and one with lockable…

Simple, effective, just works.

Just looking for a simple, elegant and inexpensive way to add more drives to my home server. This dock fits the bill. It just fits straight into the double height 5.25 inch bay opening found in most PC cases like mine. It was very tight and I had to remove my PC's front bezel, but my PC was like that. Once I removed the bezel, she slid right in and reattached the front bezel. Just plug in two power cables and three SATA ports and you're done. The nice thing is that you don't have to use any…

Pros
  • Nice package
Cons
  • Empty

The product works, the build quality seems to be normal. Installation was pretty easy. If your cables are long enough, you can connect them before fully inserting them into the drive bays to make your work and cable connection easier. Based on SMART drive temperature stats, the drives in ICY DOCK are 4. -5 degrees Celsius cooler than the other drives I have in my case, so they are cooling the drives. But the fan is too loud to work or play near this computer. This product's noise is literally…
