Very important. Well, if you don't plan on turning them off often.

New ethernet cables needed at a rehabilitation site. Nothing special but all the old cables were worn, torn, twisted etc. The cables worked fine but the tab on the RJ45 connector was a bit short. It's quite difficult to pinch it with an adult's fingers to unplug it. Eventually I had to use needle nose pliers to remove a few and found that the tongue cover could fall down and past the tongue making it very difficult to remove from the socket. an extra 1 cm to lengthen the tongue could have…

Pros
  • High quality 50 micron gold plated contacts for clear communication; fully compliant with FCC Part 68
Cons
  • Not Fashionable

Returning for short latch

The shortened latch makes it fairly easy for the latch to get stuck in a device you plug it into. If it goes in and you don't catch it and then try to remove it, the latch will snap to a vertical position and the connector will lock until you bend it back and strain the plastic. It is likely that due to repeated stress, the latch will soon break and either be plugged in or unplugged, preventing proper installation. Rating: 5/5 This is great if you never actually take it off. Easy to remove: 1/5

Pros
  • Molded bracket provides a more secure connection; keeps the cable within the Category 5 bend radius
Cons
  • Some issues

Returning due to shortened clasp

Due to the shortened clasp, the clasp gets stuck in whatever device you plug it into fairly easily. inwards and you won't catch it and then try to remove it, it will flip the latch to a vertical position and lock the connector in place until you bend it back and strain the plastic. Probably from repeated stress, the latch will soon break and either get stuck in the fork or come loose and prevent it from seating properly. Value: 5/5. It's great if you never really take it off. Easy to remove…

sketch cable; I hope to be able to replace them soon

I had problems with some of these cables when they arrived and had to replace many of them. There are a few 100 megabit devices that I have left at this location, but they will be replaced soon and I need to buy better patch cords. As an example of problems, I'm using Ubiquiti Wi-Fi Access Points with PoE injectors. Access points often (several times within a few minutes) lost their network connection and all connected devices lost their internet connection and renegotiated it with the next…

  • This is great

Not worth the money - otherwise you get what you pay for

UPDATE BELOW: I'll admit I've been looking for cheap patch cords to connect rack mount equipment to my home lab. After connecting the two cables, I had to remove them to manage the cables. I couldn't unplug a cable. After I cut off the sheath covering the clip, both cables I connected had tiny bits of vinyl/PVC underneath the clip. There's no way I would remove them without cutting off the case and then digging up that little piece. The cables were shipped individually wrapped and I did not…
