Description of 🏍️ IMS 313117 Folding Shift Lever for Flightline Motorcycles in Sleek Black

For: Kawasaki KLR250 85-86, KLR600 84-87, KLR650R 89-07. Made of steel and has a folding tip to minimize the damaging effects of impact, reducing the chance of damaging your transmission or shift shaft. Stiffer design eliminates that sloppy feeling of stock levers for more positive shifting response. Won’t let the bike jump out of gear when the lever hits an obstacle. Cheaper and more durable than stock shift levers.

very easy to replace

I like the new gear lever, I even changed it myself. I was very embarrassed after falling in my friend's driveway and bending the shaft. the new one is easier to change without having to unscrew it. I am considering buying footrests.

An extra inch is everything

For those of us with big feet this derailleur is for you. Put it on my KLR650 and riding has never been easier. You wouldn't think an extra inch would make a difference, but it really does! If you're having trouble getting your boot under the shifter, try this and you won't be disappointed. Very easy to install.

Pros
  • Good product for the price
Cons
  • Some issues

Once you have this switch, you'll love your KLR even more!

Although listed as 87-07 KLR 650 models, they will fit later KLR models. It's amazing how much more than an inch longer the shifter makes the KLR. IMO this should be standard equipment on the KLR. The shift is truer and more positive. Installation was easy, no bending or modifying the switch required. If your KLR doesn't have this switch, you'll be glad you do!

Pros
  • Quality construction
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging

Better than stock - parts

This was the perfect match for my 2016 KLR 650. The shifter was short which made shifting very difficult in riding boots. This IMS lever is a little longer and makes boot shifting a breeze. There are also no problems with the friction of the lever on the engine. I haven't spilled any water on the bike with the new lever, so I can't test its durability, but it seems well made.

Perfect fit for my bike.

Perfect fit for my Gen1 KLR. The solid solid steel also makes it tough enough for me when wearing MX boots. Foldable stand to avoid damaging the case if it falls. The teeth matched my teeth perfectly. 10mm pull studs for regular size and no extra tools needed in your bag as there are 10mm studs on almost every bike and almost all KLR studs have 10mm studs. May apply to other bikes. I didn't try.

Pros
  • Great workmanship
Cons
  • Slightly torn

Great brake lever when properly adjusted.

Put this on my 2009 Kawasaki KLR 650 and it works great. It was also loose when tightening the bolt, so I removed the brake lever and bent the metal tighter (down the bolt). After that it sits perfectly on the shift bolt and I'm very happy with it. If you buy this brake lever, just make sure it is tight before tightening the bolt, or you risk tearing off the inside of the brake lever and buying a new one. Don't ask me how I found out.

almost perfect - lever

Fits great and doesn't hit the body like the one I bought from MSR. My only complaint is that I can't place it in the right place. At one step, it's above my foot, meaning I have to lift my foot off the footpeg to downshift, and upshifts require little effort. If I move it a tooth it's in the perfect spot BUT it hits the frame when I try to shift into first (which means I have to press down twice from second to get through neutral) . It's still 100% better than the broken original, I just wish…

  • Everything is fine!

Switch bent after a few hits

Just replaced the switch on my 2015 klr-650 with this product. Installation was easy enough: unscrew one screw from the old switch, replace the new one, and tighten. Just got back from a bike ride around the block to check it out. I literally rode no more than 2km and shifted no more than 4-5 times in total. I had trouble getting the bike from neutral to 1 in the first few cycles, so I pounded on it hard. Nothing out of the ordinary, it was all done from a seated position and not as hard as I…
