Tool Tested: Power & Hand Tools

I have a 20 year old Model 317 (the previous model but almost identical). It was a horse and it still works today, but it broke the seal when I mistakenly plugged it in to 175psi. It now idles at 200-300 rpm but otherwise has trigger control and works for heavy chopping. I bought it to fine grind and grind welds where I need more control. It's very smooth and powerful. feel and quality. The price is fair and in my opinion very close to what I paid for the 317 20 years ago. I recommend replacing

I've been working on the car for about two months now. Used a DA Electric Mill. Wanted to go from 5" to 6". Choose this pneumatic device. Immediately after unpacking, the cover screw is bent. Even the slightest deviation will cause the entire tool to vibrate in your hand and you will not be able to control it and you will end up with smooth sand. Great grinder if you have enough air. Updated when this failed.

I used this DA grinder almost all day for several days. It's a pleasure to use and does a great job. I swap between an 80-gallon Curtis and a 60-gallon Husky, keeping both on my toes. This is the only pneumatic tool I've ever used that loads the Curtis. Understand that you will only like this tool if you have a big enough compressor.
