Make no mistake: Computer Components

Before making the purchase, I spent a lot of time comparing the latest Intel and AMD processors. I really wanted to give AMD a chance. In general, you can get almost the same good performance for less with an AMD chip. In the end, I chose the i7 4770k for its single and multi-core performance over alternatives. This is done on a computer primarily used for transcoding media and games. Without overclocking, with an EVO 212 CPU cooler and a Corsair Carbide 500R case, this processor runs for hours

Nice high end Haswell.

Works great in a Hackintosh build (Gigabyte ga-z87mx-d3h), idle like my 15.6" 4800MQ laptop, around 28-30C. Haven't uncovered it yet, but I paired it with a HyperEvo 212+ cooler and not a useless standard HS/fan in a Corsair Carbide 300R case. Haven't paid attention to that yet, but will try to account for the high load temperatures when working with Patriot Viper 1600 DDR3 (2x8GB) DIMMs.[EDIT] Prime95 on OSX: Stabilizes fairly well with Hyper 212+ at 60-63 with the occasional SHORT Burst up to

The most powerful processor I've ever had!

Intel is what you need. I've been an AMD fan all my life. I was poor when I was in college and price was a more important factor in my decision to go with AMD. I assumed the competition between AMD and Intel was overblown and their chips are similar. Boy was I wrong. I replaced my AMD Phenom 4.0GHz quad core processor with this i7. It was a world of difference. I don't game much, but I have some video conversion experience using both processors for testing. When I converted a video file to…
