Review on Intel Core i7-4770K 3.4GHz Processor by Jeremy Monroe

Revainrating 5 out of 5

The most powerful processor I've ever had!

Intel is what you need. I've been an AMD fan all my life. I was poor when I was in college and price was a more important factor in my decision to go with AMD. I assumed the competition between AMD and Intel was overblown and their chips are similar. Boy was I wrong. I replaced my AMD Phenom 4.0GHz quad core processor with this i7. It was a world of difference. I don't game much, but I have some video conversion experience using both processors for testing. When I converted a video file to another format with an AMD processor, its utilization went up to 99%, which meant that if I did anything else during the conversion, it would result in CPU overload and a blue screen of death. With an Intel processor, video conversion only takes about 20% of the usage, and if I had to rate that, I'd say it converts videos about 33% faster, maybe even more. This is great because it allows me to do other things on my computer while converting video files without upscaling them. Yes, Intel will cost you a little more money for "less" processing power. In my personal opinion, it's worth the extra money. These processors are much faster than AMD. The point of this review is not to pursue AMD as they offer you superior computing power at an affordable price. I have nothing against her. However, if you're short on cash and have some extra cash that you're willing to spend, go for an Intel processor, especially if you use it for gaming or video editing/conversion.

Pros
  • computer components
Cons
  • boring packaging
