Type of review

I was looking for an ethernet hub to connect to my Sony Blu-Ray changer and Direct TV box so I can download Direct TV movies faster and Blue -Ray-DVD can download pictures and notes. I recently upgraded my DSL internet to 1 Gigabit speed. I have used Sling Media boxes to make two devices wireless for the reasons above. They are obsolete with the update. While looking for a replacement I saw an IOGEAR 5 port hub and thought it would be a great replacement. Reading the reviews I was confident…

Pros
  • Great price
Cons
  • Long wait

Works very well. Setting up was easy. I've now connected a game console, TV and receiver via ethernet and with the wireless 'n' connection I'm getting very high speeds, around 50Mbps (assuming I have a fast ISP and the latest cable modem and routers). I would like only 1000 ethernet connections instead of just 100 for future compatibility since the wireless standard "n" can support 300Mbps. For example, the new PS4 already comes with Ethernet 1000. If you already have a fast ISP, cable modem…

Very simple and very powerful for me

I'm not a geek per se but I know/understand how things work. So when I read other reviews about hidden networks and open password problems, I don't pay attention. What I need in my house is a range amp and when I saw it I thought maybe hardwiring things to the amp would be even more helpful than just having the amp close to the equipment. I have an Onkyo HTRC270, PS3, XBOX 360 and HD DVD player. Yes, you read it right. It took longer to get it out of the box, hook up all the RG6 cables to the…

Works great but annoying high pitched sound

I bought this to connect wi-fi to my entertainment center where my receiver and dash cam only have ethernet, no wi-fi. The only functional issue was the one button WPS. I have followed the instructions for both the TP-LINK TL-WR841N Wireless N300 Home Router and this IOGEAR device but have not been able to sync them. No problem, I just manually entered the shared key into the well-designed and easy-to-use web interface on the hub and it connected to a very strong signal. I have an issue…

Works, but oh my god!

Plugged this thing in, pressed the WPS button on my DSL modem/wireless router, pressed the WPS button on IOGear and nothing! What the installation guide didn't say, what I found out after calling IOGear is to hold the button for 5-10 seconds to activate it; but it still didn't work for me. So I plugged it into my computer, added the wireless SSID manually and was able to get it working. Overall it works fine, just a hassle to run lol. Update: After a few weeks of use, I have to restart it…
