The product is a little bigger than I expected and if you only put 2 peppers in it the bottom is so cone shaped that it doesn't crush them. If I put 5 peppers in it, I get 3 peppers back. I've spent some time with the chisel and got it working, but it should be from a seller that works properly.

This will work fine for my purposes. I just wish there wasn't a little indentation in the center of the fountain as I have a feeling that would be a place where the chiis don't grind properly. The sinking is the result of a shovel used to drill a well. I could try filling it with something like Titebond glue or some other food safe resin etc.

Ironwood was as tough as it sounds and three of the four sides were great, but the fourth was extremely jagged and rough, and the first thing my accident-prone mother did was cut her finger (but without a splinter, the thing is strong, as I said). Despite this rough side, she loves it. However, we haven't tried shredding peppers with it, so I can't comment on that. For my mum this is a decorative item so it has a nice finish all around (even rough) and up to 3/4 of the handle.
