I'm so glad I don't have to keep swapping bits.

I don't know how I ever lived without this drill! I'm so glad I don't have to keep changing bits in my drill press when I need to drill big holes. It even worked really well in a hand drill when I realized I forgot one of the holes. I find it easier to start with a small regular bit to drill a hole first and then switch to the unibit. I work most with 12 gauge steel and it goes through with little effort.

Pros
  • Drill with radial concave groove
Cons
  • Big and bulky

Made in America for step drills

I used this drill to drill 6 1/2" holes in 1/4" mild steel and it drilled holes perfectly with no problems. ; The trick is to drill slowly, don't force the drill bit, just let it cut itself, and I used cutting fluid; That's why I rated it a 5 and it's made in the USA. I would recommend this drill to others. I also used a Neiko drill using the same technique as above and it was difficult to cut through 1/4" mild steel. I only drilled one hole and the drill burned out and couldn't drill more…

Pros
  • Drills have a radially concave flute
Cons
  • Doubtful

Drill holes for guitar pins.

I bought this bit as part of my tool kit for drilling end pin holes in expensive guitars to install end pin sockets for internal pickups. Every drill bit makes a hole, but I wanted to make sure the guitar's wood was in perfect condition after the hole was drilled. Serious damage to a $5,000 guitar can ruin a person's day, especially if they own the guitar. If there is no previous hole, a new 1/4-inch hole is usually drilled by a luthier using a sharp-tipped drill bit and then a precision cone…

Pros
  • IRWIN drill sizes are laser marked for easy identification.
Cons
  • No instructions.
