8.5mm Only - Wire Sets

I didn't know the wire size of my new connector. I thought they were 8.5mm so I bought these pliers. The crimping pliers worked great. The crimped terminal was not fully pulled out. Then I realized that my wires are not 8.5. I send them back and get an adjustable pair of pliers. If you have 8.5mm diameter wires, they will work for you.

Pros
  • Decent Performance
Cons
  • Almost OK

Keep plugging in the ignition parts

Good crimping tool. Good strippers. The jaw that rolls the connector may have a larger angle, you need to squeeze the connector a little to fit this jaw. I used different sets of cables and the plug was always the same, it was wide. I put the connector on the wire and just squeeze it a little to hold it and then into the crimping tool. The crimp is great when done.

Pros
  • This is amazing
Cons
  • Not sure

Another great IWISS product

Perfectly stripped and crimped my 8.5mm cables. The MSD double crimps were great and the Taylor single crimps were good and very tight. These things don't make sense. I would say they are designed for 8mm wire. but I bet they will work with 7mm wire too. Some duct closures may (or may not) be just final compression to crimp the insulation very tight.

Pros
  • Perfect for outdoor activities
Cons
  • No power

Crimp station too small for 8.5mm wire

When used with 8.5mm MSD wire, the teeth will not crimp the terminal properly. They leave a huge flat spot (ridge) where the teeth can't fully enclose the wire and terminal. Makes for a bad crimp and difficult to get into the trunk. I've spent over $200 on wire and wire ends for this tool. If you have 7mm wire now, they will probably work just fine.

Pros
  • Enjoy
Cons
  • Update available

Works with MSD in spares

Similar to the same jaws as in the MSD crimping machine but at a much better price. The jaws have a single crimp found on every spark plug wire and a double crimp found most often on MSD terminals. So the only major difference between this crimper and the MSD is that the handles on the MSD are angled. When I tried using this with some Klien sponges I found that the sponges didn't fit. But I love the fact that I have a crimping tool that works with MSD connectors for a lower price than MSD.

Pros
  • Pleasant to use
Cons
  • old

6 out of 6 perfect crimps for my Wrangler on the first try.

You can't find this universal spark plug wire crimping tool for the price. Summit Racing Kits come with a crimping tool which is practically useless. The stripper did a great job on my 8mm Summit Racing spiral wires. He cut the insulation just enough to avoid damaging the conductor, then just pulled the last uncut portion a little with no problem. Why waste money on much more expensive tools when they do the job perfectly and make great crimps every time. If you are not sure, watch the YouTubeโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Handy item
Cons
  • So far, so good
