This module has a smaller size. It is more compact and saves space for your project. This board contains 11 digital input / output pins, all pins have interrupt / pwm / I2C / 1-wire and a micro USB connection. This board is 100% compatible with Arduino and WeMos and can be programmed in the Arduino IDE. WIFI development board, with 4 MB of flash memory.

Type of review

Great if you don't need a full size NodeMCU. It also comes with 3 different types of pins so you can choose the best application for your project or if you prefer you can choose not to use the pins as they are not pre-soldered. They are also narrow enough to be used on a breadboard.

Bought to start an LED project, worked great.

As you can see in the video it works perfectly. It runs a private Wi-Fi hotspot hosting a web server that controls every aspect of the 100 WS2812b (Neopixel) LEDs in my project. AP which is also a web server that also works with 100 LEDs for about $5 is excellent.

Great little boards.

I bought these to make the marquee I saw on Thingiverse. They work very well, offer a decent web server and drive an LED dot matrix display with time, weather and news. They are Arduino compatible which makes them easy to program and I will use them often in the future. In fact, I have already ordered 5 more units and plan to use even more for different projects.

2 out of 3 not bad

Ordered 3 packs. The first time I tried to flash the firmware via the USB port (communication timeout). I thought I was until I tried one of the other two - and they blinked just fine. I was able to flash the bad one by connecting it directly to the Rx/Tx pins. Turns out the USB/Serial chip (CH340G) was receiving data from the USB port but couldn't transmit it, so there was no handshake or flash. Stupid luck I tried the bad one first. spent a lot of time trying to figure it out.

Great compact boards

I have built many smart home devices and used full size ESP8266 until I found this one. They work the same as my ESP8266 but they are smaller and we are exactly what I was looking for. They work with my ESP8266 code, except instead of NodeMCU 12e I just chose Wemos D1 Mini as board type. I love that they come with many different headers, as some headers are better for prototyping and others are more permanent solutions. Nice to choose. The price of about $5 per board is perfect for my projects.

Fast little microcontroller with easy-to-use WiFi

A powerful Arduino-compatible microcontroller in a very small form factor with a handy built-in USB port for programming. They work fine with the standard Arduino IDE once the board file has been loaded. , and are compatible with most existing Arduino code - the only problems you might run into are some libraries that want to access hardware directly, as most Arduinos are AVR based and this is a different MCU.
