J-Tech Digital Wireless HDMI Dongle Kit: 1080p 100' Range with IR Passthrough Review

Works but range is not what manufacturer claims. I've tried using this in a variety of locations, indoors, outdoors, etc. The best range I can get is about 50 feet with no obstacles (1/3 of what it claims). That's my reason for 3 stars. I would definitely give him more once he reaches 100 feet. The delay is about 0.5 seconds, which is what they claim in the listing.

I bought this device for video production and streaming for my friend. However, since I bought this device, it has not worked on any of my devices. The plan was to use this system to allow the HDMI camera to move freely when broadcasting live at the gym or other large venues. It connects when RX and TX are within 10ft of each other with no obstacles. Something in between doesn't work. It is cut off by a thin inner door. Tested in a small school gym at an open house. The device was great when it worked at the beginning. However, after a few months of use, the mini-USB power connector on the wireless transmitter failed. After opening the case, it turned out that the mini-USB power connector helps with a couple of soldering points and does not withstand the stress of repeated use. I rarely write negative reviews but I think I burned myself on this one. I bought this as a wireless solution for a film production set. The best I can say is that it worked sometimes. If literally EVERYTHING is in the receiver's path, it will lose the signal. If you're more than 50 feet away (I have one that's rated at 164 feet), it loses signal.
