I bought a 27 lb pug aged 1 1/2 and a large brown coat. The coat is about an inch longer than his, but because of the cold in winter I needed extra protection on his back. He doesn't seem to have a problem wearing a coat. The only thing that bothered him was the sound his coat made when it moved (rustling). However, after a few shakes and flaps, it settled down and hasn't shaken it since. I definitely recommend it.

My dog is 30 pounds. I bought him an XL and he should fit 35-45 pounds. My dog's circumference is 24" and this coat should fit up to a 26.77". I bought this jacket for my Great Dane puppy. I appreciate the price as it grows out of things very quickly! It is as pictured and true to size. The stitching is well done and the velcro is good velcro (strong hold, no cheap bullshit). Overall excellent quality. However, the solid beige side is not fully waterproof.
