This could have been a five star thermometer but the instructions are in Japanese. Nowhere in the product information does it say that this thermometer only reads degrees Celsius. It cannot be switched to Fahrenheit. When I take my temperature, I usually don't feel good enough to calculate from C to F. give it back

Probably one of the best thermometers I've ever bought. I'm Japanese and grew up in Celsius and for some reason I don't trust many cheap thermometers being sold so I went with what I know which is Terumo. I grew up on Terumo and my mom even has a thermometer that broke recently and lasted 24 YEARS! It measures temperature quickly and fairly accurately. This brand is very reliable and I will never buy another brand again.

I bought one of these many years ago on a trip to Japan and it still works great. Very reliable, fast and of high quality. Just bought a second one from Revain, exactly the same model. For those who don't mind temperature readings in Celsius, I can warmly recommend Terumo. Some nurses and doctors actually prefer Celsius, it depends on how you learned it. BTW, this is made for Japan, not for export, so there is no "secret way" or procedure to change it to Fahrenheit.
