Description of Japanese Kuretake Pocket Brush Fine

[BRUSH TIP] High-quality, hard brush tip creates thick and thin lines with ease. Easy-to-hold, rubber grip that is comfortable and prevents slipping, and is great for beginners. Guaranteed quality, made in Japan. [UTILITY] Switch smoothly between creating crisp, detailing lines and laying down thick, bolder lines. Line variation is easy to achieve with this sign pen. [SMUDGE FREE INK] It uses rich black water-based pigment ink, which is water-resistant when dry and resists smudging with alcohol-based and water-based inks. Great for lefties!. [VERSITILITY] Pigment ink does not bleed through most paper, and dries quickly. Ideal for art, calligraphy, brush lettering, sketching, illustrations, outlining, inking, wash drawing, scrapbooking and more!. [ESTABLISHED MANUFACTURER] In 1973, Kuretake developed the "Kuretake Fude Pen" and has since developed various fude (brush) pens since then. The continuous development of brush pen technology over time has been applied to the Hikkei Sign Pen as well, making it a go-to, high quality brush pen. Made in Japan.

Misleading name, no brush!

The name of this product says "brush", it is not a brush. It's just a fine tip marker not worth the price. It should be renamed and the price should be lower. Even some of the images in the viewing area are wrong.

Pros
  • Not cheap but decent
Cons
  • Some variety

Juicy, smooth Kuretake grip! Wonderful.

I collect all kinds of pens like drawing, writing, journaling, calligraphy etc. but I especially like the obscure Japanese pens, so it was really great for me to find this pen! Admittedly I have no idea what a real pen says so I wouldn't know what to call this pen if it weren't for the listing title but it writes beautifully with rich, smooth ink. I love it!

Cons
  • Dear

Best for drawing with ink

This is my favorite Kuretake brand pen for drawing. I use this for a lot of sketches and am reviewing my fourth one right now. I use it with the Kuretake Fudegochi pen. Personally, I use this in a variety of ways, but this one delivers a very thin to thick flow of ink. It's very versatile and I use it for portraits, anatomical drawings and in my Moleskine art magazine. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who enjoys sketching or inking.

Cons
  • No power

Wonderful! But I couldn't read the instructions.

Absolutely amazing! Just like painting with a brush again. My only issue was that the instructions are ONLY in Japanese. So it took me a few days of fiddling to figure out how to get the ink to flow. You need to unscrew it, remove the small yellow ring, then screw it back on, pierce the ink reservoir, then gently squeeze the base of the pen until a few drops of ink bubble up in the transparent reservoir, and shake until it works. This is the way down the brush.

Cons
  • You could have chosen a newer model
