I wanted to use these to turn metal skewers on the grill when making kebabs. They technically prevented me from burning my fingers once, so I'm giving it three stars. However, it should be noted that the shields did not melt well and could not be used a second time. They might be fine for curling irons if you're preventing accidental touching, but I wouldn't rely on them intentionally touching a hot surface.

I do a lot of hot things with my fiancé's company. We bought them because we thought they would take the heat with no problem. The temperatures are hot enough to burn your fingers without licking them off. I'm tired of constantly licking my finger from the heat. Needless to say, they couldn't take the heat even where a wet finger could take. Do not buy if you are dealing with anything where heat can burn your finger.

I use them with a thermal glove over them to add a bit more thermal protection and protect my other fingers. I wouldn't use them without a thermal glove. I use them with my Remington curler that came with the glove, but my thumb and forefinger would get too hot if they were in the same glove. Adding these heat shields makes my curling process so much better.

Works great. They protect my fingers from the heat. Holding it for 10 seconds or less is no problem. The white lettering is already fading, but performance isn't affected. I bought a small one and for perfect I have small hands. They're meant to make my fingers sweat, nothing uncomfortable or rough. Overall a great purchase for the price.
