No complicated electronics, no batteries. I bought this to fit my new zero turn lawn mower. The option kit was available for quite a bit of money, but with the cord and plugs included, it was an easy addition to the existing pre-built option on my lawnmower. As with an electronic meter, you start the engine and the meter runs. Turn off the engine, the counter stops.

The hour meter on my Huqsvarna YTH 150 lawn mower has failed. I had to file the top, sides and bottom about 6 strokes each. No more than a few minutes of work. Plugged in, plugged in, works perfectly. You can turn the key on without starting the engine, clicks on the hour meter tell the time with the second hand on my watch. Cheaper than paying $120 for original hardware, no typo!

This is a good hour meter for the money. It looks the same as it came from the factory and is easy to hook up, the only thing is that it's 1 1/2" wide and it comes from the factory 1 1/4". Luckily my Hustler Raptor uses a standard plate and has the right size hole. The counter covers part of some characters and who even knows what it is, I don't know, I think you could be wrong here.

The ridiculous digital hour meter on my Generac GP6500 generator spat a ghost of only 4 hours on the clock. Since I didn't want another digital one, I decided on this mechanical one. This is highly inaccurate. It was the first of two I bought. I bought it because that died on my generator and right in the description it says it was made for generators. Well it isn't, as I found out the hard way. Most generator hour meters run after the inverter, meaning they run on AC, not DC. Obviously fried.
