I refrained from buying one of these speakers because I was waiting for an updated Charge 4. I was disappointed and ultimately happy with my UE Megablast, which wasn't much more expensive Cons: Mono, directivity, no custom EQ settings, bluetooth delay... The JBL Charge 4 has one major drawback which, to be honest, makes all of its other good points almost irrelevant to me. This is a mono speaker. This means that apart from the two woofers on the sides, only one loudspeaker is installed. It's not even in the middle. Do yourself a favor and buy the Charge 3. It has stereo speakers instead of that mono junk.

Bought last week. The sound quality and speaker volume are good, I was happy with the purchase. I bought it after seeing on the JBL website that the speaker was hands free. Please note that this speaker does NOT have a hands-free function. The information on the JBL website is incorrect. I contacted their tech support and they confirmed that they would remove this description from their site.

Excellent build quality. Good sound! The connection does not automatically reconnect if you go out of range and then come back into range. The battery indicator shows the charge status only when you switch it on for the first time. Then pause, play or change tracks to see the battery level.
