More harm than good

I tried unsuccessfully to salvage an old steering wheel with this product. Despite the disclaimer that it doesn't get sticky, it certainly does. It started with a few small spots, but the more exposed it was to the sun, the worse it got.

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • Infuriates

Adds grip: Interior

My car had a "racing wheel" clad in black leather with red stitching. It looks good but is very slick and difficult to grip. This tape greatly improves grip and feel.

Pros
  • Delivery was very quick
Cons
  • Not as thick as other options

Sticky mess for trim

Bought this tape for a worn arcade steering wheel. It was thick and well applied, but the glue is sticky and will peel off your hands! If it's so dirty in my air-conditioned gallery, what will it be like in a hot car?

Pros
  • High score for grip and durability from testers
Cons
  • Miscellaneous Miscellaneous

It works as described. Jos sells quality products.

Used on a racing car handlebar. It's thin but offers a really good feel. Reduces fatigue when trying to grip and steer the wheel. It requires less grip strength as it grips racing gloves really well.

Pros
  • Decent performance
Cons
  • Some drawbacks

Slightly tacky suitable for steering wheels

I used tape on the steering wheel in the car, this is a quick and temporary fix. I covered probably 1/3 of my handlebars with half a roller but I didn't run at all. He could easily cover everything. My only complaint is that it's a bit sticky even after weeks and scuffs.

Pros
  • Durable finish
Cons
  • Damaged

I used duct tape to wrap an unstable 1952 MG.

I used tape to wrap a 1952 MG TD unstable handlebar. Parts of the wheel are layered. The tape stabilized the wheel, particularly where the three spoke components meet the wheel. The steering wheel feels solid in my hands. I then covered the wheel with a very large leather truck steering wheel cover which gives the wheel more stability. If you have an old steering wheel that you want to wrap in leather, do yourself a favor and wrap it in duct tape so the leather doesn't slip off one side while…

Pros
  • Sturdy construction
Cons
  • No automatic

Not only for the handlebars

I bought this handlebar tape for my Triumph Spitfire, but ended up using it for a different purpose when the foam rubber on the handle of my lawnmower showed several cracks and tears. I wrapped the rubber with tape for the steering wheel. rubber holds up well. Because the tape is a bit sticky, I actually feel like I'm gripping the lawnmower better than ever. The stickiness also explains why the tape was developed for racing and other high-performance driving applications. Although I use it for…
