Tool works well

I used a Jonard EX-5 to remove some 44 pin PLCC chips from a socket. The product worked for my application and removed the chip from the socket when the handles were squeezed. I didn't have to pull up after turning the tool on, the squeezing action pulled the chips out on their own. This version has knobs that help prevent ESD discharge if you're concerned (I am). When I first used it, I didn't push the handles down far enough. When I tried to remove it the teeth slid off the top of the IC…

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • Quick start guide
