I used a Jonard EX-5 to remove some 44 pin PLCC chips from a socket. The product worked for my application and removed the chip from the socket when the handles were squeezed. I didn't have to pull up after turning the tool on, the squeezing action pulled the chips out on their own. This version has knobs that help prevent ESD discharge if you're concerned (I am).
