I was looking for a 15A plug and decided to buy one to power my Yeesu FT 8800 mobile radio for temporary mobile use. The connector itself is glued, so you can't just take it apart to service the connections inside. The wire is thick and of good quality. However, the three wire connector at the end of the cable was unusable for my purpose so I cut it off and soldered the wires for my application. I tried this on a 6 amp (nominal) thermoelectric chip cooler that actually draws about 5.5 amps. After two minutes, the center wire at the end of the lighter adapter became hot enough to cause a 2nd degree burn. I touched the wet sponge and it hissed. I estimate the plastic case would have melted in under ten minutes. It's also the worst fork I've ever seen. Don't waste your money on this one, very poor quality. We used it 1 day and it kept falling out of the cigarette lighter. Upon closer inspection, the end was crookedly molded in plastic in the middle, causing it to enter the connector crookedly and causing overheating in the middle. I tried to fix it but to no avail, it still won't seat in the connector and the central ball was very hot. I was afraid that a fire would break out. It wasn't due to too much current, the wire was cold to the touch.

Used this to power an underseat subwoofer (not a huge wattage) from my car's 12v auxiliary socket rather than connecting the subwoofer directly to the battery (always one dirty work). I needed a heavier 15 amp caliber so I went with it over some of the competitors at Revain. I cut off the end and attached it to the subwoofer. Simple, clean and works like a charm. Has been working without problems for over a year.
