I have tried several cheaper brands of crayons and they have impressed me the most. The pens have the thickest core I've ever tried, 3.8mm. They are creamy and work just like Prismacolors. I use them for personal drawings and objects, not coloring books. With many cheaper brands of pencils, the quality of the paper makes a big difference in the results.
