The hammock we received is made of a smooth material so it's easy to clean if it ever gets dirty. I bought it for my rats. I bought this hammock because it was the only hammock that was relatively cheap for the material. My ferrets tend to get very dirty and soil the linens so I wanted a hammock that could be easily wiped clean. The material is what I had hoped for. Something like a tarp if possible. I would buy my rat almost any toy, bed, chew, or anything he completely ignores and if it's a bed he will grind it up. I bought it thinking it was cheap and worth a try! And boy am I glad I did. He sits in this thing all the time!
