IT WORKS! I bought this blank key and cut it for $3 at my local True Value hardware store. program it. I programmed it so easily on the first try, even if I only .

I bought this for a 2000 Ford Explorer I bought last week. Revane says it fits in my car and I was able to take it to a hardware store to have a key made. I programmed it so easily on the first try even if I only had an original key. My reason for the 2 stars is that the key fob part is too thick and doesn't fit my ignition as much as my original key (it needs to slide into the ignition's "sleeve") and therefore won't start. My car turns on the power but won't spin

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • boring packaging

Must not be programmed - be careful.

Bought this key for my 2008 Sable to replace a broken one. First, it was VERY difficult to cut those places (Ace, Home Depot, Lowe's) that don't cut store bought keys due to possible problems with a key not working or their cutting wheels breaking. Second after realizing it's not even programmed for Sable at a Ford dealership (2 visits) (including a spare key from Revain). Apparently the Ford/Mercury version's electronic specs are a lot tougher (hence $150 for a key versus $25 for a key plus…

  • Everything is fine!

  • Functionality

This is for my 2007 Lincoln MKX. I made the key at the hardware store. I was able to program the key into the ignition because I had 2 other keys. I was able to program the key fob in the car using the multiple on/off method. The only problem is that the trunk button is not recognized as a valid code for the vehicle. I know it works because when I program the key fob into the car it beeps when I press the trunk button. There is only one problem with the code sending the keychain, which doesn't…

Key is ok, instructions misleading.

The instructions bother me the most. They have a common set of programs for different Ford remotes and the picture that comes with the correct instructions for that remote is not correct. And my car was listed with this key instruction that looked like this. I kept trying to program it following the instructions next to the picture of that button but nothing. Replaced battery, repeated all steps, everything. Nothing. I ended up sending it in for an exchange. The same story. On a whim, I…

Low (expected) effort = a lot of money saved.

My wife's car key began to fall apart - it broke from the torque with regular turning. I evaluated the manufacturer's OEM replacement and was amazed at the price. After getting solid feedback on this dongle we decided to give it a try - even if we had a bug and had to try again we were able to do it multiple times for the price an OEM part should cost. But don't worry, we were ready for the first try. While our experience was simple, there are limitations to be aware of: You must have two…
