It's a shell so you have to open it and either get a new chip or use the chip in the dongle that you can no longer use and insert it. My old key broke so I took out the chip, bought this product, put the old chip in the body of this key and cut the key from a local locksmith. That works great. BUYER WARNING! I completely ruined a 2015 Hyundai Sonata and my original key fob because I had high hopes for this replacement. Now I can't return it. I need a keychain. Even though I could move my board, it just doesn't work! The key flap does not extend fully and you cannot remove the ignition key. The button stays pressed - ALWAYS. See photos. I bought this replacement set for my 2016 Hyundai Sonata key fobs. The original key's rubber buttons were worn to the point of being unusable, so I went ahead and replaced the entire key body, reusing the electronics and key. The casing is good for the electronics, but the button feels a little stiff and doesn't wobble when the button is pressed, you have to pull it out manually, which isn't too hard but still worth mentioning.
