Works well but not new.

Device arrived quickly but not in the original packaging. A close inspection revealed that it was spent ballast. I cannot determine whether this is individually returned ballast or used ballast from a batch salvaged from the demolition site. I installed it anyway and it works fine. The question is how long it will last.

Pros
  • Free for training purposes
Cons
  • Damaged

Good replacement for the broken ballast in my F20T12 two lamp fixture

The new ballast fits the original ballast bracket perfectly. I was going to cut the 8 wires connecting to the 4 lamp sockets and use the 8 wire nuts to make the connections according to the diagram printed on the new ballast, but instead I pulled the original wires from the sockets and just plugged in the new wires . into the sockets according to the diagram. The mount works like new.

Pros
  • Nice packaging
Cons
  • Definitely bad product

Good ballast transition to LED lighting

Allowed me to convert 2-24" fluorescent tubes to LEDs with little wiring change by following the diagram on the ballast itself. I switched the wiring from serial to parallel electronic flow I think. This is easy if you have basic DIY skills, wire cutters, and a few splice plugs (and disable that circuit in the fuse box). Hopefully the energy savings from using LED lights will pay off for the change. with time.

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • Null

Requires assembly modifications.

This ballast has non-standard wiring. In addition to the power wires, 4 red and 4 blue wires come out of the ballast. There is no universally accepted yellow. You need to remount the tombstones. Usually 2 red, 2 blue and 2 yellow wires come out of the ballast. This is not a simple wiring change. You need to connect blue/red to yellow, remove the black jumper from the tombstone and connect it to the other red/blue wires. I bought 4 of these ballasts, but the installation is too difficult for me.

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • Interchangeable

Failed after 3.5 years, very poor quality compared to original

Lasted 3.5 years before it caught fire (I was there, I am this one saw), so I opened it up, and as you can see from the photos, it literally burned out. The original ballast lasted 38 years. The Chinese Keystone ballast lasted 3.5 years. Unfortunately there are very few F20T12 ballasts so I bought another one. If people REALLY took the "environment” seriously, they wouldn't allow such poor quality products to be manufactured and sold. The original ballast lasted almost 13 times longer. From an…

Pros
  • High score for grip and durability from testers
Cons
  • Not as thick as other picks

Big improvement over 30 year old replacement ballasts

I installed one of these 9 months ago and no problem (no more flickering or buzzing, slight improvement in brightness). Now I have two more installed. Installation is simple: red wires on the top and bottom of one bulb, blue wires on the other. White and black to the appropriate wires. In my case, in the old wiring, the bulbs were connected with a jumper at one end. I disconnected them and followed the wiring diagram for the new ballast. If you cannot access the wire connectors on the back of…

Pros
  • This is amazing
Cons
  • Some bugs

Needed to replace the ballast for lights above my kitchen cabinets that only use a F20T12 fluorescent tube. Genuine Keystone Cat ballast. No. 120TP, rated at 0.625 A, went out of production. This Keystone KTEB-220-1-TP-EMI seems to be an ideal replacement although it is rated for a lower current of 0.55A. Mechanically it fits the mounting studs perfectly, just like the original ballast. As I only needed to light one F20T12 bulb per fixture and this new ballast is rated for 2 of these bulbs I…
