Do not order if you have hand problems.

This product is not useful if you have carpal tunnel syndrome or arthritis. If you could get enough torque on the handle, you'd need both hands to hold what you're trying to open. However, I couldn't open three of the three half-litre jars of homemade pickles. I put it in a box to use for charity. For me it was useless. Maybe someone with two strong hands, maybe.

Out of Order: Kitchen Utensils and Appliances

I have osteoarthritis in my hands and pain at the base of my thumbs. This makes opening cans more difficult as you have to hold the can with one hand and twist it with the other. I was hoping that this can opener would allow me to open cans with less effort than advertised. I tried and still couldn't open the jar. It was too painful and of course I had to ask someone else to open the jar for me.

This works GREAT! in kitchen and dining room

This can opener works very well. It expands to accommodate larger glasses. The metal clips tighten as you rotate the top/handle. It needs a bit of twisting, but it's still a little easier than trying to pry the lid open with a butter knife. I was surprised it worked. It doesn't look like it just came out of the box. EDIT ---- I've had this for a while (4 months). It worked like a dream! Great for plastic spins on lids (depending on the shape of the plastic lid - but so far it works for…

Simple - it works! in jar openers

This replaced my dead RoboTwist battery operated cap remover which I really liked but expected more than a year of sporadic use. I have arthritis in my hands and even the simplest cap gives me trouble. It arrived just in time to open the salad dressing container and jam jar. It seems a bit counter-intuitive, but I was surprised at how little effort it takes. Really thinking it wasn't working, took it out of the container and found the lid was loose - on both jam jars and dressing jars. It's…

Seems to be a good product though.

At first glance it looked strong and durable. However, it broke after a few uses! It seems that there is too much play in the handle's shaft and its seating area. This leads to chatter which causes excessive "twisting" of the gear meshing with the internal teeth. The end result is that the teeth slip up and over the gear and thus lose their engagement. Result? It turns itself. I managed to reassemble Humpty Dumpty and install the locking ring in the recessed part of the handle stock. It's more…

Pros
  • Positive only
Cons
  • No insurance

It is totally useless for any form of disability. You still need two hands, wrist agility, arm strength, and a good grip to use it. But it gives you extra leverage, which is definitely better than nothing. First. Then, after a few dozen uses (so probably after the return window), the handle wears out and the device can no longer hold the glass lid and rotate it at the same time. You can use it to hold the jar in place, but it releases the jar's lid once you try to twist it to open the jar. This

Works like a charm on kitchen utensils and gadgets

not work - or only worked after great effort, but certainly not easily or quickly. In fact, it's the easiest and fastest way to open cans you've ever wanted. It's a slap in the face of male pride to be defeated by a jar you just can't open just by using all your strength and your face turns red and your blood pressure rises to dangerous levels just to try to take that lid on a new jar of pickles! but that's an admission of defeat and the main reason we bring ourselves to the brink of collapse…
