These cable nuts are very suitable for outdoor wiring. You have more than adequate connection and I believe my wiring should be waterproof for years. BUT, have paper towels or a rag handy as you will get greasy from all the silicone that comes out when you insert the wire into the nut. At least you know it's a watertight connection. I would recommend them to everyone.

Love these. I used them to install new taillights on my boat trailer. They are filled with silicone sealant or something similar. If you poke at him with wires, he'll obviously break the seal. When you screw it onto the wires, a small amount of sealant comes out, but nothing interferes; just shows that it is well sealed.
