Reliable, no tools required

If you have a Shimano 11 speed chain, use either these pins or Shimano pins. They can be installed without tools. Even with a tool, it's possible to screw up a Shimano pinset. It is save. The only downside is that they are very visible compared to the surrounding links. So if you really have OCD because of the way your bike looks, they can bother you.

Pros
  • One year trial
Cons
  • Disappear

Works well, cheap enough not to be reused.

Works very well - I use them on my Shimano Dura-Ace chain and they work well there and I have one on my SRAM XX1. I use the Park chain pliers http://www.amazon.com/Park-Tool-MLP-1-2-Chain-Pliers/dp/B00D9NW32I/ref=cm_cr_pr_sims_t/192-8468164-8580837 as it works for these to connect rides. They were a lot cheaper than SRAM's powerlinks so I'll probably stick with them.

Pros
  • Great price
Cons
  • Not bad but...

Great product - just wish they were cheaper

I've been using KMC Missing Links on Shimano 10sp for a few years now. They make replacing your own chains an easy task. I also carry it in my saddlebag along with a small chain tool in case I ever need to fix a broken chain along the way. When I switched to Shimano 105 5800 I switched to these 11 speed lefts. I don't take my chains off to clean them, so not being able to reuse these 11 speed links doesn't bother me. They cost almost three times more than 10sp links so I'm hoping the price will

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • Hard to say

Yes, buy them now and be happier

Why is nobody using them? I really do not know it. I've used them on every chain I've used in 10 years of road cycling. I use them for all chain brands, yes even Shimano. I'll use them again. I take my chains off every time I drop the bike on a cleaning stand, it's a lot easier to service etc. I only replace them when they're really loose and I can get them off without pliers. Oh, and by the way, Park Tools sells pliers that open and close. I don't know why they even make one just opening them…

Pros
  • GOLS certified
Cons
  • Only available in black

Good product but remember this missing link is not reusable

This is a good product. You'll need as much of the missing link as you can by hand, but then move the missing link so it's on the top line of the chain, and then pedal to set it (actually, this is the instruction they say when you put it on don't have tools). You need a tool to open it because it's really difficult to remove manually. The best installation and opening tool is the MLP-1.2 parking tool, it opens and closes unlike the KMC brand which has a separate opening and closing tool.

Pros
  • great product
Cons
  • something different
