This tester heats up to maximum temperature quickly so you don't have to put your hand over the grill, in the oven or over the pan. A very important function. I keep one in the kitchen to use on the stovetop or in the oven and the other outside on the wire rack. I also got a set for my daughter. How nice it is not to have to guess if your meat or fish is roasted and to what extent (especially if you have medium meat eaters and well done)

We like that there are two thermometers in the box. The cost was only a few dollars more for two. I have two kitchens so we have the option of having one in each kitchen. We've only had them for a few weeks, but have enjoyed using them to check the temperature of meat during or just after cooking. I bought a Taylor thermometer similar to this one and the Taylor thermometer only lasted about 4 months before the probe came out of the case. However, they replaced it with no problem, but in the meantime I needed a thermometer so I ordered this one.
