KOHLER GENUINE 1188999 Toilet Canister Review

This item was listed as used, only the original packaging was missing. While I could have bought a repair kit for about the same price, it would not have included the gasket that I also needed. Thank you Revain for redistributing this product and saving me money. The product was clearly new, fit and worked great after a simple install.

I ordered this KOHLER GENUINE PART 1188999 but the part number stamped on the product I received was 1187573. The installation booklet that came with it has a different number. I called Kohler to see if #1187573 is compatible with my flush tank. A Kohler spokesman said compatibility could not be confirmed. So I sent it back and ordered the correct part directly from Kohler. Today I received a part from Kohler. Guess what? The stamped part number is the same: 1187573 and the installation booklet

tried everything. I had a slow leak, there was no water anywhere. The first thing I replaced was the gasket at the bottom of the canister that comes together when flushed. I then asked a professional to replace it, thinking I had done it wrong. The professional said it needed to be repaired if not replaced with a three bolt oil seal. I had to replace three screws. I then replaced the pitchline with a Kohler replacement. Then I finally replaced the entire canister block with this one. This…

Bought because the canister seal replacement was bad. Replacing the seal did not help. Small traces of casting on the canister prevented a good seal of a 3 year old toilet. Just used a new canister with the seal already in place. Waste of parts, but buying a whole new assembly is cheaper than buying individual parts. Save additional details if required.
