They are great for use in therapy. I can give one to different students who need different times to receive information. It's also another way to edit skills individually.

Our family has problems with board games, especially the settlers of Catan. People seem to want to negotiate for hours. This set allows us to give certain participants a hard negotiation limit. It's almost a must.

It helps to do things in our house. I use it when my 4 year old son starts arguing or hesitating. I use it at lunchtime to eat our veggies, in the bathroom to do our chores on time, put on our coats and get dressed. I'm trying to make it a "Can you do it before the time runs out?" game. I also have a 5 minute timer which I also use for a quick cleanse before bed.

The 1 minute timer was good but the 2 minute timer ran ten seconds less in one direction (not quite sure how it coped ) and the intended 3-minute timer took 2:06 to deflate in one direction (average of five attempts) and 2:18 to deflate the other direction. Remember that there was nothing in the package to indicate which timer should be which, so do the pilot testing first.

I purchased these hourglasses as part of my analyst toolbox. I often go to meetings with business users to collect requirements and the discussions get very active. When trying to prioritize requirements in a group, it's easier to limit discussion time in a "fun" way when there are timers on the table. These are good quality hourglasses - much better than the ones included in the games.
