Shock absorber KYB GR-2 for spare parts

High quality replacement shock absorber. Not as strong as Bilstein, but very inexpensive. Installed GR-2 struts on a 900 Saab 900 and GR-2 shocks on a 91 Saab - very happy with both!

Pros
  • Shock absorber
Cons
  • no longer knows

A bit of softness for the Saab 900 SPG

The part fits well and much better than the broken shock absorber it replaced. But with stiffer springs, the Saab SPG still makes for a slightly springy ride. If this machine was more than just a winter hammer for me, I would have gone for a more expensive, sturdier shock. But the part fit well and went in easily. I think it would be good for Saab 900 "S" but too soft for SPG.

Pros
  • Shocks, struts and suspension
Cons
  • Some faults

Worse than 21 year old stock on '91 Saab 900 Turbo Hatchback

I wanted a cheap temporary replacement/upgrade for my "worn out" shock absorbers. The car is 21 years old and bounces a lot - I've heard the GR-2s aren't the best for the Saab 900, but at $96 for all four corners shipped I couldn't help but get by. I had to. After removing the old rear shock absorbers I manually checked the stiffness and then compared it to the GR-2 and the original ones are actually more resilient! These brand new GR-2 shocks are softer than worn out 21 year old shocks. Never.

  • Automotive
