Drive died in less than a month

I copied a few TB of data onto the drive and it worked great for a couple of weeks. Then one day I came home from work and it completely died - there was still power but my computer couldn't see it and I couldn't fix it with hard drive repair. Buy another model instead as this one is not very good.

Pros
  • Great job
Cons
  • Empty

Photographer's perspective

This is a loud ride. Even if there is no direct access. The fans and drives run loud. I would suggest installing it behind or under a table. Its presence on the desktop is audible. At the same time I work with music and use it to directly access stored frames and work directly from the hard drive in Capture One and Photoshop. It's worth the extra money for 440MB/s read and write speeds.

Pros
  • This is amazing
Cons
  • Some bugs

The LaCie 2big RAID 8TB is NOT Thunderbolt 3. No onboard encryption.

12/23/2020: I'm about to warn you. LaCie 2big RAID 8TB is not a Thunderbolt3 device. USB 3.X only. Also, it *** has no built-in encryption ***, which is very surprising. I'm having trouble installing. RAID Manager will not install on my new DELL XP15 9500. I had to use an old Windows 10 PC to set up RAID 1. So far the hard drive is quiet when not reading or writing, with some reading and writing noise, but no problem at all. There is no fan noise. The rating will be updated as necessary.

Pros
  • Dope 🔥
Cons
  • Expensive

What's the deal with this energy saving mode and the emissions?

I've been a LaCie fan for a very, very long time. So I was very excited about my first RAID system. Out of the box there were problems with Catalina and the disc view. Well the tech service was great and helped solve this problem. But immediately after that, the drive goes into sleep mode and ejects itself! This makes it unusable. I emailed, called and sent the ticket. A week passed and nobody answered me. Very disappointed. I'll see if I can get it back. Now if someone answers this question…

Pros
  • Absolute Legend
Cons
  • High Price

DO NOT INSTALL LACIE RAID DESKTOP MANAGER

I thought LaCie had a better reputation so I decided to buy it for my RAID solution. What a terrible mistake on my part. Do not under any circumstances install the LaCie RAID Desktop Manager software (which the installer that came with the device will prompt you to install). This software is not compatible with the latest versions of macOS and will destroy your computer. How terrible? Can't boot. Cannot boot into safe mode. Cannot boot into single user mode trying to prevent it from destroying…

Pros
  • Large selection
Cons
  • Fair
