I thought LaCie had a better reputation so I decided to buy it for my RAID solution. What a terrible mistake on my part. Do not under any circumstances install the LaCie RAID Desktop Manager software (which the installer that came with the device will prompt you to install). This software is not compatible with the latest versions of macOS and will destroy your computer. How terrible? Can't boot. Cannot boot into safe mode. Cannot boot into single user mode trying to prevent it from destroying the machine on boot. The only option was restoring from a Time Machine backup for about 20 hours. A week later I thought I'd try again because what's the use of having a RAID storage without some sort of management software to keep me posted of problems? Same error, restore from backup again. LaCie must uninstall this software immediately. I am also sending notifications to Apple about this so hopefully they can hold LaCie accountable. These days, Apple blocks everything that isn't actually harmful, but allows such junk to harm the Mac. Wonderful. The best part is that LaCie has absolutely no support whatsoever. Not that it's helpful.
