Glad to finally get the open top thimble. Hand sewing is much better now. The size is marked on the thimble.

This thimble works great! I was concerned that the dives would be too shallow, having experienced this with modern thimbles. But this one is great. I had some issues with the thimble staining my finger but I covered the inside with clear nail polish and that solved the problem.

Nice deep indentations to catch needles, would have loved my grandma who sewed for New York designers in the 50's. You want to be open at the top so you can feel the fabric with all your fingertips, and you should be pressing the base of the needle with the side of your finger anyway. For a time it was difficult to find custom made thimbles for small hands but they are beautiful in gold, much prettier than the "manly" looking steel thimbles I have tried to find used or moldy and unsold from old
