The lens is as simple as possible - glass and metal, even a metal hood. Sharpness is good and with proper lighting and a stabilized camera sensor, you can shoot excellent macros handheld. It will be possible to use the lens for other tasks with great limitations. The fact is that he does not tolerate hard backlight very well and catches huge hares. In fact, the main features of the lens are compactness and macro 2: 1, if you can use it without additional light. :) The price has now increased by

Pros
  • Compact and lightweight. Sharp enough. Macro 2:1. Reliable metal construction.
Cons
  • Catches rabbits very hard. There are no electronic contacts, you have to manually set the FR for the stub.

Excellent macro lens

Excellent macro lens. Clear and sharp at both short focal lengths and standard distances. It's also an excellent portrait lens. The macro capabilities are just phenomenal. It's very sharp, even at medium and high apertures. I'm very impressed with it and will most likely buy other Laowa lenses with different mounts.

Great lens. for APSC cameras

Small size and weight, fine workmanship, very sharp, large aperture (f2.8), up to 2x magnification, affordable price (almost perfect), made for APSC cameras . For people like me who are used to focusing manually and using a tripod when needed, these limitations are not a problem but a perfectly acceptable compromise. But autofocus (and image stabilisation) may be good or necessary for many users, and of course the larger size, weight and cost, but on the other hand the lens can also be used as…

Pros
  • Comfortable to use
Cons
  • Some little things

I'm relatively new to macro photography. I recently bought this for my Sony a 6000. I also shoot with a Pentax K3 DSLR. I liked the 105mm macro lens with 1:1 magnification. The Pentax lens does an excellent job; BUT! Sony's mirrorless camera with a 65mm lens is much lighter, making it easier to focus evenly with your free hand. The 2x magnification and APO glass make the lens so convenient to use as the image quality of the lens is two to three times the price. The Laowa 65mm lens is fully…
