I'd like it flush. Having to spread the thunder to even things out is a pain. This is important when trying to align tiles in a project. It is enough to avoid the lip side, this additional consideration is not necessary. others install more flush.

Good size and looks great when the tile is finished. It was difficult to get the tile and grout to stick to the plastic. It is standard size and fits well between the wooden studs of the wall. The plastic seems strong. A craftsman installed it for me.

This was the perfect size for all of our shampoos, conditioners and body gels in the large upper compartment and perfect for soaps and razors in the smaller lower compartment. Most alcoves I looked at were only 12 inches wide overall, and once installed and tiled they were only 9 inches wide. Looks great!

This alcove is very well designed and large enough to accommodate the tallest soap/shampoo bottles as well as soap bars on the floor. The only thing to watch out for when finishing is to make sure the shelves are not set too steep to prevent items from sliding down. But it depends on the builder. The niche itself works great and is easy to install using the edges of the nails.
