Working but not warm enough

I bought this bulb to replace an old GE 40w halogen bulb that came with my 16.3" Lava Lite (circa 70's-80's). . This lamp works but I'm disappointed that it doesn't get as hot as the original lamp. The movement of the lava has become more lumpy and not as fluid as before.

The pears are not the same size.

I wanted these bulbs because they were the same brand as the lamp. Lava. Well I got the lightbulbs, I open the lightbulbs and. Wait, the end of the lamp electric screw is larger than the lamp. Well my son loves it and I have to apologize to him son it seems they have different sized lamp sockets. So now I still have no lava flow and 2 very nice useless lightbulbs. I give 2 stars because the bulbs are in perfect condition. It should show the difference in the size of the outlets.

Pros
  • Price
Cons
  • Some difficulties

They technically work

When the bulb burned out in my 20 year old lava lamp (did the bulb really last that long? just like the ones I bought at the store, turn on the lamp at least an hour before you die want to see action and many hours before you really want to see all the pieces melt. .

Pros
  • cool product
Cons

They technically work

When the bulb burned out in my 20 year old lava lamp (does the bulb really hold up that way long (I don't know if my parents ever had to replace them) I bought a pack of regular 40 watt light bulbs at the grocery store They took a very long time to heat up the lamp so I ordered them They work just like the ones I bought it at the store. Turn on the light at least an hour before you want to see the action and many hours before you really want to see all the pieces melt. Well, at least they work.

Pros
  • Look for B004CLYOJG for 14.5" bulbs (P/N 5025-6)
Cons
  • Could have gone for a newer model

Wrong brand bulb

packed" but sent me these "Schylling" brand lamps. If you read reviews of lava lamps at Revain, you'll find that most people give great reviews for "Lava the Original Lamp" and terrible reviews for the cheap Schylling imitation. It seems to be similar with light bulbs. Many have complained that they don't work or that they are the wrong bulbs. Now I have to see if I can find the genuine Lava the Original Lamp 40-Watt Replacement Bulbs, 2-Pack.

Pros
  • UL tested and certified
Cons
  • Ugly packaging

Not just a lava lamp bulb

Believe it or not, the original bulb in my 25 year old lava lamp just went out. Initially I replaced it with a standard 40W bulb (Type A), but the temperature of the burning bulb did not match the original temperature. So the lava was not moving and "flowing" as it had been for the previous quarter-century. After some research, I settled on these bulbs even though they cost almost twice as much as regular 40W incandescent bulbs. So far I'm not disappointed. While I can't comment on durability…

Pros
  • Specially made for large 16.3" and 17" lava lamps.
Cons
  • disappears
